Submitting Service Hours

Due to changes in the Presidential Volunteer Service Award site, we are currently asking all students who want to track their hours, to do so using the BVSD Community Service Log. At this time, there is not a place to submit those hours connecting you to Blue Valley High School. Even if you find the Presidential site allowing you to log in, we strongly recommend you use the BVSD Log for future reference. All district high schools are in communication about a plan moving forward to recognize the impact our students continue to have on their communities and will share that plan as it becomes available.

Where can I serve?

BRING A FRIEND to make your service experience more fun! If you aren't sure how to get started try Volunteer Match, United Way Volunteer Center or download the list of recommended organizations.

Is community service required for graduation?

What organizations require community service?

National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Foreign Language Honor Societies and the National Science Honor Society have service requirements. Contact the sponsors of those organizations for specific information.

Is there a certain form to fill out?

No. We recommend that you keep a log of your own community service hours.

Is there no paper form needed anymore?
Correct, we no longer keep a record of student volunteer hours. This is completely self-reported and we simply verify that each student on our list is actually a student at BVHS.

What if I repeatedly do the same service tasks for the same organization (multiple times per month)?
We suggest logging hours every time you complete hours in order to maintain accurate, consistent, and up-to-date records.

What kinds of service counts and what doesn't?
Requirements are simple and are as follows:

  • Service DOES NOT include charitable donations
  • Students cannot receive payment of any kind for their service
  • Volunteer service cannot be court-ordered
